*PLEASE NOTE: These FAQs are for your assistance and to help you with the most common problems experienced by users of addresspal.anpost.ie. These FAQs DO NOT replace the Terms and Conditions that apply to the use of the AddressPal service and/or the terms of use of this website and/or the various policies, statements and legal requirements that apply to the AddressPal service.


1. What is AddressPal

  • AddressPal is a service from An Post that allows customers to avail of a UK address that can be used as a postal address for the delivery of UK online orders. Items are then available for collection at the Post Office you have selected.

2. How Does it work

  • You apply and register online at AddressPal.
  • As part of the registration process you select the Post Office you want your AddressPal items delivered to.
  • You will be provided with a card containing a unique address code, your AddressPal address, which is to be used whenever you use the service.
  • You purchase online from a website which has UK delivery available.
  • You use your unique AddressPal address as your delivery address.
  • An Post will deliver your AddressPal item to your selected Post Office.
  • An Post will notify you by e-mail that your AddressPal item is available for collection. SMS notification is also available.
  • You go to your selected Post Office, with photo ID and your AddressPal card, pay the delivery charge and collect your item. Photographic identification is defined as a Passport / Driving Licence / Employer photo ID/ Student photo ID from a third level college.
**You need to enter your full AddressPal address as the delivery address on all websites, in order to avoid your item being delayed, or returned to sender**
**Please be aware that certain websites offer an “auto-fill” address option when you enter the Postcode “AL4 0JY”. This auto-fill address does not contain your unique AddressPal number and should be amended to include this as per the diagram above**

3. How long does delivery take

  • Your AddressPal item will usually be delivered to your selected Post Office within an estimated 3 to 4 working days of receipt to our UK Address. Your AddressPal item can then be collected within the next 5 working days.

4. How much does it cost

  • €3.75 per item.
  • A charge of €25 will apply for oversized items.

5. How do I apply for a card

  • Simply complete an online application at AddressPal.
  • We will post your AddressPal Card to you when we have processed your application.

6. Can I use the service before I get my card

  • Yes. We will send you a temporary authorisation that you can use immediately.

8. What do I do if my card has been lost or stolen

  • Please contact An Post Customer Services on 01 7057600 to report the card lost/stolen or send an email to addresspalsupport@anpost.ie.

10. How can I pay

  • Payment must be made at the Post Office when you collect your items. Cash or Debit Card will be accepted.
  • For oversized items, payment will be made at the elected Delivery Service Unit.
  • Cheques are not accepted.

11. Can I get the item delivered to my home address

  • No. You can only collect items from your selected Post Office.

12. How will I know when my item is available for collection

  • An Post will notify you by e-mail / sms when your item is available for collection at your selected Post Office. You can then pick up your item at your selected Post Office within 5 working days. Note: you must bring your AddressPal card as well as Photographic identification such as a Passport/Driving Licence/Employer photo ID/Student photo ID from a third level college

13. Can I track my item online

  • AddressPal items cannot be tracked online. An Post will notify you when your item is available for collection.

14. What happens if I do not collect my item

  • If you do not collect your item after a period of 5 working days, your item will be returned to sender.

15. Is the item insured

  • No, your item is not insured. All AddressPal items are handled securely.

16. What happens if my selected Post Office closes

  • We will notify you if your selected Post Office closes. You can then select your new Post Office at AddressPal.

17. Can I change my selected Post Office

  • Yes, you can change your selected Post Office, simply make the change at AddressPal.

18. What happens if my item does not arrive

  • Check the purchase website to ensure that you have entered your AddressPal address correctly
  • Contact An Post Customer Services at 01 705 7600 or send an email to addresspalsupport@anpost.ie.

19. What are the size and weight limits for standard AddressPal

  • Max Dimensions 72cm X 31cm X 25cm.
  • Maximum weight, 20kg.
  • An Post will contact you if your item exceeds the service dimensions.
  • Oversized items will be charged at €25 per item and can be collected at your local Delivery Service Unit. You will be contacted by An Post, by phone in advance to notify you that your item is available for collection at the Delivery Service Unit.
  • Oversized items maximum dimensions:
    • Length: 1.5 metres.
    • Length + Girth: 3 metres.
    • To calculate Girth: 2 x (Depth + Width).
  • Items that exceed these dimensions will be refused at our UK Hub.

20. Are there any restrictions in what can be sent using this service

21. Can I nominate another person to collect my AddressPal item

Yes you can nominate another person (an agent) to go to the Post Office to collect your AddressPal item. They must have

  • The AddressPal collection confirmation e-mail.
  • Their own photo identification (such as a Passport / Driving Licence / Employer photo ID / Student photo ID from a third level college).
  • The Agent Authorisation form which you must sign.

22. I am having issues entering my AddressPal address

  • Ensure you are entering the correct Postcode as is displayed on your card.
  • The correct Postcode is AL4 0 (zero) JY.
